Ah the global economy. I love the choice and connection it offers. It’s been really cool in the past few years to be able to access some great high street brands from overseas. I’ve featured a few pieces already on my blog and Instagram from UK brand Marks & Spencer. Marks & Spencer provide some very chic affordable pieces . In addition they often feature cool collaborations with the likes of Alexa Chung – so good.

Being a mama my main outfits are based around comfort dressing whilst still trying to look good. Denim is definitely a wardrobe staple for me and Marks & Spencer offer a huge selection at a really good price point. They cover an extensive range of styles to suit everyone, including a plus size and maternity range. If you’d like to dip into a trend – embroidered mom jeans or blush pink skinnies for example – they offer quality pieces with the advantage they aren’t going to cost you hundreds. In this post I chose to feature three denim styles I will have on high rotation – pale denim skinnies, mid wash boyfriends (with a slim leg so relaxed but not too baggy) and pale khaki cropped skinnies. I love pale khaki and whilst I’ve paired it with a white striped knit in this shot it also looks fabulous with blush pink. Marks & Spencer also have a lovely range of tops. With high street brands I tend to choose natural fabrics. Marks & Spencer have lots of pure cotton, wool blend and linen/ linen blend pieces to choose from.

In terms of sizing I am a standard Australian size 10 which is the same as UK 10. The jeans all fit me perfectly and all have that lovely soft denim feeling – so no digging in during the day. Marks & Spencer also offer different length options with their sizing – short, regular or long. I’m 166cm (5 ft 6 inch) and chose short for the skinnies as I’m into a cropped look at the moment. I chose regular for the boyfriend jeans.

Delivery was also super quick – and cheap. It’s $5 AUD for regular and $7.50 AUD for express plus free express delivery if you spend over $200. I chose express, ordered on a Wednesday night and it was delivered by that Sunday! If you need to return anything it’s also really easy, you have 35 days to return and a courier can collect. This is always a deciding factor for me as sometimes sizing can be different online to reality, or the item might not suit.

Finally what I particularly like about this brand, as I’m trying to think environmentally as much as I can, is that they are embracing a sustainable ethos. For example Marks & Spencer have committed to source 100 per cent of its cotton from sustainable sources by 2019. The more companies  adopting this attitude the better for our planet and our children’s future. I’d far prefer to spend my money with a brand that is committed to change.

Until next time

Cassie xx

  1. Wow all the outfits looks lovely, but I especially love the t-shirt blazer combo. It will be perfect for work, as our dress code is smart casual. Thanks Cassie.
By the way, I love the stripey top too. I thought the stripes would be unflattering but somehow the big sleeves soften the horizontal look.

    1. Thanks for your comment Mandy! M & S make some really great work stuff too, agree this would be the perfect look for a smart casual office x

  2. Love the cropped khaki denim with that striped top… ooh and I expect that blazer brings any casual outfit up a notch – over shorts and tee in spring?
I’ve never shopped M&S before (except for convenience food when in London 😌) but have a lot of respect for companies moving toward ethical-global resourcing so will have to check it out online!
