Statement Jewellery

One of the easiest ways to jazz up or even create an outfit is through accessorising. I will sometimes base my entire outfit around what jewellery, bag or shoes I’m wearing. It’s also a good way to update your look without breaking the bank.

Statement jewellery is a big trend at the moment and as a stay at home mama for me it is a good way to create a new look without having to purchase a new outfit. I normally wear finer jewellery day to day but I love something different occasionally.

With statement jewellery I would go for one statement piece, or possibly two – say earrings and a bracelet or necklace and bracelet. I wouldn’t wear statement earrings and necklace together as since both are near your face you want to make one piece the hero piece of the look.   There are some interesting shapes at the moment with earrings too if you wish to branch out from the traditional – eg Ear Jackets and Ear Bars. You could even try a brooch as these are having a bit of a renaissance at the moment. I personally, if the jewellery is coloured, would keep the tones of my clothing muted so that the jewellery becomes the stand out piece. But if you have a brighter style (hi mum) you could totally pair a rich jewel toned top or dress with a colourful piece – whatever suits your style.

As you may know I’m a big J Crew fan and the earrings I’m wearing in the main shot I know will be a staple piece, especially in Spring/Summer.  They often have flash sales so it’s even worth it to get on their mailing list so you can be updated. I bought these on a 30% off everything weekend so they only cost about $60 – bargain as they are very well made.  What I also love about statement jewellery is although some pieces can be expensive (see my selection below) often times you can buy quality looking stuff for a reasonable price. Always a good point to keep in mind when it comes to trends.  The pink/orange shade I’m planning to pair with white, navy, soft pink and grey tones. As someone who doesn’t wear a lot of colour I love the fact that statement jewellery can add some colour to my look.

Below are some selections of statement jewellery out at the moment, in various price brackets. I’ve included some earrings by Ayala Bar, she designs the most exquisite jewellery with a bit more a boho vibe, which I love. They are quite busy designs so I definitely only wear mine with a plain outfit – usually a white cotton top or dress.

Until next time

    1. Thank you so much! There’s some great finds on Etsy isn’t there? I’ve just found some gorgeous Seagrass bags that I’m planning to post on soon. xxx
