I thought today I’d share my winter wardrobe wish list as the seasons seem to be finally, sort of, turning. Well at night anyway. Here it is, in no particular order:
I especially love chunky cardigans. They are so easy to just throw on and go. Of course I love a good jumper (sweater) but my preference is a cardie. The one I’m wearing in the picture above is this season Witchery. My beautiful friend Susana suggested I give the size of what I’m wearing in my blog posts as sizes do tend to vary between brands. Great suggestion as I often wonder the same thing when looking online. I usually wear a Size 8 in Witchery or a XS or S if it is sized that way. For the cardigan above I’m wearing a S/M as the other options were XXS/XS and M/L and I would much prefer a bit looser than too tight. I checked with Witchery though and there is not a lot of difference between the sizes in this cardigan apart from a tiny bit of length. I would also love a cardie from I love Mr Mittens. Pricey but luxurious. Another option similar to Mr Mittens is Purl Harbour. John Macarthur is a Sydney Bondi based knitwear designer. He has been around for years, used to custom make my friends and I woollen flares to wear to dance parties in the early 90s (yep really showing my age here)!! His knits are featured in a lot of fashion editorials in Australia. He doesn’t have the same marketing presence as Mr Mittens but his custom ordered knits are high quality and truly beautiful.
A leather jacket
I desperately need want a leather jacket. I don’t wear a lot of black so for me personally I’m after either a nude, beige or even navy leather jacket. Sambag had German label Rich & Royal leather jackets last year in navy but I missed out as I thought about it for too long (it is such a big investment piece after all). This year they have them in khaki which is a great colour but for this price point I would prefer a colour which is a little more versatile. However if you see khaki working in your wardrobe the cut of these jackets is great. My extremely stylish friend Lucy introduced me to the French brand Iro last year and I’ve seen a gorgeous nude leather jacket of theirs but at approx. $1500 I will definitely be waiting to see if it goes on sale. Shopstyle.com have a great sale alert service which emails you when items you are interested go on sale. With all the international shipping options available these days it is an excellent resource. David Jones stock some Iro so if you wanted to try for sizing that would be a good start. If anyone has any other suggestions for leather jackets please leave a comment below!
Specifically all white Stan Smiths. Erm yes I’m jumping on the Stan Smith bandwagon. I must admit the bombardment of them on Instagram has swayed me. They look so cool. In my defence I was an Adidas girl in the 90s and early noughties through and through. Back then it was Gazelles and Superstars for me. White trainers have so many things going for them – they look great, you can wear them with skinnies, baggy trousers, luxe tracksuit pants and even skirts or dresses. Very chic and so comfy for all the running around us mamas do. Only downside is they will get somewhat trashed at the park, especially after rain. I won’t be wearing them then obvs. I’ll save my “park trainers” for those trips (old and scuffed converse atm 🙂 ).
There was a strong “Gentleman’s Club” trend on the AW catwalks this year. It’s a comfortable look and my favourite accessory from this trend would be loafers. Loafers are a nice change to ballets or pointed flats. I’ll be wearing mine with skinny jeans or chinos. I’m going to go for a leopard print from Witchery because I love leopard shoes, but tan or even the colour of the season burgundy would also be good options. I take a size 37 in Witchery shoes as they don’t do half sizes and since having my son my feet have grown from 36 1/2 to just under a 37 and I always prefer comfort.
White skinny jeans
I don’t think skinny jeans will be going anywhere in a hurry. If the current denim section at DJ’s is anything to go by I think they will be around for a while yet. I am excited to move into some new shapes with jeans but for a basic I’m sticking with skinnies this winter. White jeans are so classic and go with pretty much everything. My choice this season is J Brand. The fabric is a good medium weight but still soft and they don’t feel like you’re peeling off a rubber wetsuit every time you take them off. They don’t absolutely stick to the ankles like some skinnies do either, there is an ever so slight gap which I like. Other favs of mine are AG jeans, their denim is super soft and comfy and always look great.
Grey ankle boots
I usually wear tan boots but something has been calling me to grey and since I don’t wear much black a grey boot is a good in between. I love ankle boots with not much of a heel – they are comfortable and still look chic – a major theme of mine as you may have noticed ;). Boots can be worn in the daytime and dressed up a bit for evening so a great versatile shoe choice. As usual Zomp have a fantastic eclectic choice of boots (of all styles).
Below are a various selection of the above items that have caught my eye.
